MOSCOW, March 23, 2004 (RIA Novosti) - Alexander Veshnyakov, the chairman of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), has not excluded charging representatives of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (KPRF) with slander in connection to their protests at a session of the CEC.
During a session of the CEC, the Communists declared the March 14 presidential elections unlawful.
Mr. Veshnjakov called the performance of Vadim Solovyov and Ilya Savkov, representatives of the KPRF, at today's session of the CEC, "politicking and political demagogy." "This is how some KPRF representatives work," he said. He noted that the CEC "uses every pre-judicial solution to a problem possible."
