MOSCOW, March 22, 2004. (RIA Novosti). Moscow regards the exhibition of Russian avant-garde in Monaco as an important contribution into bilateral relations, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Monday.
The exhibition featuring over 80 paintings by famous avant-gardists from Russia's major museums and private collections opened in Monte Carlo on March 11. This collection is shown in Monaco for the first time. The exposition is sponsored by the Yekaterina private fund, the Russian Culture Ministry and Monaco's culture department.
"This is an important event for the rapidly developing friendship and cooperation between Monaco and Russia, which were boosted by Prince Albert's recent visit to Russia," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
According to Monaco officials, this exhibition contributed to the implementation of joint statement in cultural sphere signed by the two countries in 2001.
