CAIRO, MARCH 22. /RIA NOVOSTI / -- Saudi Arabia does not plan having own space centre of its own in the near future, Saleh al-Azl, director of the King Abd al-Aziz scientific-technical township (complex) in Riyadh, told the Egyptian news agency MENA on Monday.

Now the kingdom is making use for the launch of its communication satellites of the Russian cosmodrome Baikonur (found in Kazakhstan), he said. It is cheaper than building own launch site for Saudi satellites.

Saudi Arabia is making communication satellites completely on its own.

Last October Russia and Saudi Arabia concluded an agreement on launching two Saudi satcoms by Russian rocket launchers Proton during two to 2.5 years.

In 1992-2002 Russia put into orbit three Saidu satcoms.
