MOSCOW, March 22, 2004. (RIA Novosti). The murder of Ahmed Yassin, the founding father and spiritual head of Islamic movement HAMAS is fraught with a new outburst of violence in the Middle East, official spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry Alexander Yakovenko told RIA Novosti.

"Moscow is seriously concerned about the situation in the Middle East. It can counteract efforts on the resumption of Palestinian-Israeli talks taken by the four international intermediaries and key regional countries," Yakovenko stressed.

Ahmed Yassin and some of his fellow HAMAS members were killed in an Isreali air strike on March 22 in Gaza Strip.
