Shevchenko reported to journalists that the book was not only an attempt to satisfy curiosity of an average person, to tell what is hidden behind the Kremlin wall. The author stated that the major idea was to create public opinion regarding the institute of president in the country.
According to him, this institute in Russia numbered not so many years as, for example, in the USA but still it was already possible to talk about certain traditions.
Shevchenko was very closely connected with this institute as he worked with the one and only USSR President Mikhail Gorbachev, was and is the chief of the protocol of First Russian President Boris Yeltsin, is an adviser to President Vladimir Putin.
The book contains facts and photographs from the lives of all three presidents. Nevertheless Shevchenko does not pretend to have written a sensation and stresses that "the book is not memoirs." He compares himself with a chronicler who records these or those facts without assessing them.
According to Shevchenko, the process of writing the 300-page book from the very start to publication took only three months.
"Kremlin's everyday life under presidents" is the second book by Shevchenko. The first one, "Russian Federation protocol" was published in 2000.
