NEW YORK, March 16, 2004. (RIA Novosti) -- Four Russian women tennis players will vie for advancing to the quarter-finals of the Pacific Life Open tennis tournament in Indian Wells, which has $2.1 million in prize money.

On the day before Anastasia Myskina, Maria Sharapova and Svetlana Kuznetsova, having won their matches, joined Vera Zvonareva, who had qualified for the fourth round a day earlier.

It took Russia's Number One Anastasia Myskina a lot of effort to beat Maria Vento-Kabchi from Venezuela. Myskina's performance in the first set was rather poor, which found reflection in the score - 6-2 in her rival's favour. However, the Russian took control of the game and won two subsequent sets and the whole match - 2-6, 6-4, 6-3.

Svetlana Kuznetsova beat Alicia Molik of Australia also in three sets - 3-6, 7-6, 6-2, while Maria Sharapova defeated Cecil Karatachneva of Bulgaria 3-6, 6-3, 6-2.

Myskina will play against Sharapova, Svetlana Kuznetsova - against Amy Frazer of the USA, and Vera Zvonareva - against Nathalie Dechy of France in the fourth round of the tournament.
