BRUSSELS, MARCH 16 (RIA Novosti correspondent Alexander Shishlo) - Javier Solana, European Union High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy, forwarded a congratulatory message to Russia's President Vladimir Putin, who scored a landslide victory in yesterday's election to win a second presidential term.
Mr. Solana spoke for closer and more fruitful relations between the European Union and Russia. EU-Russia strategic partnership rests on shared values and interests, he said. Mr. Solana is sure the progress of such partnership is essential for the cause of peace, security and prosperity in the decades to come, he says in the message his press service is circulating.
