VIENNA, MARCH 12. /RIA NOVOSTI / -- Iran has officially banned the inspection trip to its nuclear facilities by experts from the International Atomic Energy Agency, due next week.

A high-ranking source in the IAEA Vienna secretariat has said this with reference to the declaration of the Iranian authorities.

According to the source, the Iranian authorities officially justify the ban by the start of an Islamic holiday. At the same time, the circles close to the IAEA management in Vienna believe that Teheran has intentionally gone to the worsening of relations with the IAEA because the possible adoption of a tough "anti-Iranian" resolution -- as demanded by the United States, New Zealand and Canada siding with it - by the IAEA board of governors regarding Iran's nuclear programmes and accusations of its violating many clauses of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.

The IAEA board of governors, sitting in its Vienna headquarters since the start of the week, to this day cannot adopt a resolution on the report of IAEA Director General Mohamed Elbaradei on the problems of the Iranian nuclear programmes and facilities.

The text of the resolution, proposed by the United States and its allies, finds no support from a number of Western states - the United Kingdom, France and Germany, as well as Russia and China, said the source. They choose not to carry the affair to the "hot point" - the passing of the Iranian nuclear dossier to the United Nations Security Council for the adoption of sanctions with regard to Teheran.

In the opinion of the source, the sitting of the IAEA board of governors may continue on Saturday, which is an unprecedented case in the history of such IAEA events.
