MOSCOW, March 12, 2004. (RIA Novosti) - The number of officials in Russia must be substantially reduced, and the efficiency of work of the remaining ones made much higher, Russia's Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov said.

"Our assumption is that there must be considerably fewer officials and bodies of state administration must function much better," the premier said, opening on Friday the first meeting of the intergovernmental commission on the system and structure of federal executive bodies.
