RUSSIA'S MONETARY BASE IN NARROW DEFINITION GROWS IN PREVIOUS WEEK

MOSCOW, March 12, 2004. (RIA Novosti) - The volume of the monetary base in the narrow definition as of March 9, 2004, amounted to 1,454 billion rubles (according to the Central Bank's exchange rate, one dollar equals 28.6 rubles) against 1,425.1 billion rubles as of March 1, 2004, reads the Central Bank's press release received by RIA Novosti Friday.

The monetary base in the narrow definition includes cash issued by the Central Bank, taking into consideration the balance of money in credit organizations, and their attracted obligatory reserves balances on ruble deposits with the Bank of Russia.
