RUSSIAN OILMEN IN VIETNAM VOTE AHEAD OF TIME

HANOI, March 12, 2004. (RIA Novosti correspondent Thu Huong) -- Russian oilmen, who work at sea drilling platforms, voted ahead of time, Andrei Tatarinov, ambassador of the Russian Federation to Vietnam, told RIA Novosti.

According to the diplomat, four polling stations for Russian presidential elections have been set up in the country - in Hanoi, Danang, Ho Chi Minh and in southern Ving Tau province on the basis of Vietsovpetro joint venture.

The total number of those who voted in Vietnam is, approximately 1,400, including about 1,000 staff members of the Vietsovpetro joint venture and members of their families.

On Thursday, an early voting was organised on the drilling platforms of Vietsovpetro for the oilmen, who work on the continental shelf of the country.
