SPECIALIZED EXHIBITION "SEA. RESOURCES. TECHNOLOGIES 2004" IN RUSSIAN POLAR REGION

MURMANSK, March 11, 2004. (RIA Novosti correspondent) - On March 11th-13th Murmansk will host the fifth specialized international exhibition "Sea. Resources. Technologies 2004".

The exhibition will be attended by 120 enterprises from Russia and abroad, reports the administration of the Murmansk region (the Kola Peninsula, the Extreme North).

The official opening ceremony is expected to be attended by general consuls of Norway, Sweden and the Czech Republic.

Almost half of the exhibition's participants will be from Norway, Sweden, Denmark, the USA, Poland, Spain and the Czech Republic.

The main topics of the exhibition will be fishing and procession of fish and seafood, production technologies of ready fish products, ship repairs and ship building, ship and technological equipment, port economy, fish breeding, scientific work and research, technical equipment of ships and industrial equipment, ship electronics.

The Norwegian research vessel Georg Sars will enter the port of Murmansk on Thursday specifically to take part in the exhibition. According to the organizes, the vessel was built in 2003 and equipped with the state-of-the-art equipment both to explore sea biological resources and carry out geological exploration on the shelf of northern seas.

The business part of the exhibition includes an international seminar for fishing industry experts from the Barents countries, as well as a number of roundtables.
