MOSCOW, March 10, 2004. (RIA Novosti). Russian President's Plenipotentiary Representative in the Southern Federal District Vladimir Yakovlev and Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov discussed the district problems, Mr. Yakovlev told journalists.

According to Mr. Yakovlev, he will maintain working contacts with his former colleagues.

"I have already discussed cooperation with Boris Alyoshin [a former vice premier] and Alexei Gordeyev [Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries]. For instance, Mr. Gordeyev knows the infrastructure of the Krasnodar and Stavropol territories, Russia's granaries," Mr. Yakovlev said.

"In addition, I talked to Sergei Frank [the former transport minister] and Nikolai Koshman [the former chairman of the Russian State Building Committee]. We discussed the building and restoration problems in Chechnya," Mr. Yakovlev said. In his words, Mr. Koshman's uncertain status did not confuse him. "It is untimely to speak about the future of the State Building Committee. However, this department will exist," Mr. Yakovlev noted.
