7TH NATIONAL BOOK FAIR OPENS IN MOSCOW

MOSCOW, March 10, 2004. (RIA Novosti). Russia's largest book forum, the 7th national book fair "Russia's Books" opens at the All-Russia Exhibition Center (VVTs) on March 10. It will run until March 15, the book fair press service said on Tuesday.

According to preliminary estimates, over 900 participants are to organize individual and collective expositions at the total area of 10,000 square meters and to present more than 150,000 books.

Book sellers from different Russian regions, publishers of books and newspapers, packing and label makers, bankers financing publishing programs, librarians, furniture-makers, sellers of paper, computer publishing systems and databases, and producers of programs and e-books, literature agents from CIS and non-CIS countries, printing industry workers and authors will participate in the fair.

The forum will feature a major children's program. Modern tale-teller Dmitry Yemets will present his new book "Tanya Grotter and Centaur's Boots".

In 2002 the organizing committee of Russia's Books introduced the status of the fair's central exhibitor for Russian regions. Tatarstan and St. Petersburg were central exhibitors in 2002 and 2003. This year it will be Moscow, the capital of the Russian Federation. The exposition "Publishing programs of the Moscow government" will be the highlight of the book fair.
