MOSCOW, MARCH 10. (RIA NOVOSTI) - Customs officers at the international airport of Samara, a southern Russian city bordering Kazakhstan, have disrupted an attempt to smuggle out a batch of valuable WWII orders, the Russian Customs Committee's anti-smuggling department reports in a press release. Military decorations of the WWII era are known to be in high demand with Western collectors.

The person who tried to sneak the batch through the customs was heading for Hanover. A civil or a criminal penalty will be imposed on him for the offense, the press release says.

Earlier, another Russian national got caught at the same airport as he was trying to smuggle out seven medals and an order.
