STEP-WISE LIFTING OF LIMITATIONS IN CIS TRADE TO BE PONDERED IN MOSCOW

MOSCOW, March 7, 2004. (RIA Novosti) -- A prime ministerial session of the CIS economic council will be held in Moscow on March 12.

The Moscow branch of the CIS executive committee said that in discussion at the 19th session will be proposals on step-by-step lifting of limitations in reciprocal trade between member states of the CIS commonwealth and directions of cooperation in the antimonopoly policy area.

The CIS economic council will discuss the draft agreement on forming reserves of resources and their efficient use to ensure sustained parallel work of the electricity systems of the CIS countries, as well as the draft concept of cooperation and coordination of activities in the currency sphere.

The council will also eye the realisation of March 12, 1993 agreements on the protection of industrial property and setting up the interstate council for the protection of industrial property.

The council will discuss the draft resolution of the CIS heads of government on the fulfilment of the Commonwealth countries' financial obligations to finance measures targeting the creation and development of the CIS united air defence system.

On the agenda of the CIS economic council is also the draft feasibility study of the concept of developing broadcasting of the Mir interstate television and radio company.
