MOSCOW, MARCH 4. /RIA NOVOSTI / -- By 2010 the volume of housing construction in Russia should be increased to 80 million square meters, Russian acting Vice-Premier Vladimir Yakovlev told journalists on results of the conference with the managers of large building companies.

"In my view, the building level of at least 80 million square meters should be reached by 2010", Yakovlev said. "In 1986-1987 76 million square meters was built annually, while in 2003 only 36 million".

"It is very little. The goal is to boost the volume", Yakovlev added.
