In the opinion of the Demochristians' leader, the present "two-in-one" state of Serbia and Montenegro actually does not work.
"Why should Serbia spend energy, time and money, trying in vain to preserve a virtual community that does not exist," Batic's letter says.
The Demochristians' leader believes that "the community's institutions and the court have not been established yet, the issue of military justice has not been resolved, the work of the Serbia and Montenegro state parliament is paralyzed "in a miraculous way." Political activities of authority structures in Serbia and Montenegro are such that it's unreal to expect significant steps in their resolution, stressed the Serbian Demochristians' leader. He said harmonization of economic relations between the two republics making a state community is "impossible." Batic also recalled that 40,000 citizens backed the initiative on an independence referendum in Serbia earlier. That initiative was submitted to parliament last June.
The Serb Demochristian party does not have representatives in Skupstina.
