KHANKALA, February 29 (RIA Novosti) - Three bandits were eliminated and one detained during a special operation in Chechnya, said Ilya Shabalkin, a representative of the regional operational HQ on the counter terrorist operation in the North Caucasus.
"On Sunday at about 10:30 a gang was discovered between Shaami-Yurt and Khambi-Ilze. It was fired at. Three bandits were killed, one detained," Mr. Shabalkin said.
In his words, presently combined detachments of federal forces are conducting search to detect gangs on the territory of Chechnya's Achkhoi-Martan and Urus-Martan districts. "Bandits who on February 25 blew up a GAZ-53 truck, killing 6 civilians and wounding 8 are also being searched for," Mr. Shabalkin said.
