RUSSIAN DEPUTY FOREIGN MINISTER DISCUSSED WITH CONGO LEADERSHIP PEACEFUL SETTLEMENT IN AFRICAN CONTINENT

MOSCOW, 28 February. /RIA Novosti/. On Saturday the Department of information and press of the Russian foreign ministry informed RIA Novosti that in the course of consultations held on 26-28 February in Kinshasa Russian deputy foreign minister Yuri Fedotov discussed with Congo leadership problems of peaceful settlement on the African continent.

The Russian deputy foreign minister had meetings with vice-presidents of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) Z'ahidi Ngoma and Azarias Ruberwa as well as with other Congo leaders.

In the course of the consultations the parties considered settlement of conflicts on the African continent, first of all normalization of the military and political situation in DRC under the UN auspices.

In addition to that the parties considered issues related to development of the political dialogue between Russia and DRC as well as expansion of trade and economic relations.

Fedotov also visited locations of UN peacekeeping contingents and the training camp of the first brigade of the integrated national army.
