According to him, in 2003 the latest air traffic control equipment Alfa was installed at the airport of Ufa in Bashkortostan (Bashkortostan is a republic within Russia west of the Urals). Somewhat earlier, similar systems appeared in the airports of Khabarovsk and Magadan (the Russian Far East). "This is the latest equipment of Russian manufacture," Neradko indicated.
He also said that the themes discussed at the current Avia-2004 forum have been substantially "enlarged to include civil aviation flying safety." In addition, other companion events will be extended meetings of aviation meteorologists responsible for the operation of air terminals in complex weather conditions. Provision of these services with modern equipment will reduce to a minimum the wheels-on time of aircraft in the airports not only of Moscow, but also of most Russian regions.
The largest exhibitors at Avia-2004 are enterprises of Moscow and St Petersburg. All in all, 90 state enterprises and firms from nine of Russia's regions and CIS countries are attending the exhibition.
