MOSCOW, FEBRUARY 17 (RIA Novosti corr. Alexandra Chabanu) - Alexander Veshnyakov, Chair of Russia's Central Election Commission, expects up to a thousand international observers to come along for the March 14 presidential polls.
"I can see a sincere interest of several international organizations, who are sending in their delegates," Veshnyakov said. According to him, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe will delegate alone as many as 400 observers. "Already, over a hundred OSCE officials have been accredited with the Central Election Commission; this organization is going to send its observer missions to fifteen of Russia's member states," he reported.
One hundred and thirty accreditation cards have thus far been granted to CIS international organizations.
