MOSCOW, FEBRUARY 12, RIA NOVOSTI - Russia's President Vladimir Putin received Joschka Fischer, Germany's Minister of Foreign Affairs, at the Kremlin negotiation table. Igor Ivanov, Russia's Minister of Foreign Affairs, described the talks to the media, later on.

President Putin informed the visitor about the Russian stance on Kyoto protocol ratification, and described Chechen settlement efforts. The negotiators discussed European Union expansion prospects and measures to prevent its negative impact on EU partnership with Russia.

"Negotiations are underway in Brussels. We hope they will arrive at understandings to spread the current level of relations to the new EU members," Igor Ivanov said to newsmen.

The Kremlin agenda also included the Iraqi issue and other international problems. Related debates were very constructive and outspoken. The Parties exchanged opinions on all matters, including such on which they did not share opinions, added the minister.
