MOSCOW, February 10, 2004. (RIA Novosti correspondent Alla Isayeva) - Russia is ready to offer a state credit to Belarus so that the letter could buy gas at commercial prices, a source in the Russian government told RIA Novosti.

The Russian party's move was reaffirmed at Tuesday's Russo-Belarus talks in Moscow.

However, Belarus has not struck up any deal on gas supplies yet, consequently, neither volumes of supplies nor prices are known. "For the time being there is no cause for allocations," the interlocutor stated.

Failure to settle the question of establishing a joint gas-transport venture compelled Gazprom to cut off gas supplies to Belarus, the government official recalled.
