MOSCOW, February 9th, 2004 (RIA Novosti correspondent Dmitry Panovkin) - For the first time in the Russian-North Korean relations, the state border between the two countries has been clearly demarcated and legally determined.

According to the Russian foreign ministry, on Monday Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Losyukov and North Korean Ambassador to Moscow Pak Ui Chun signed an intergovernmental protocol on the state border demarcation. This document is an additional protocol to the protocol between the USSR and the North Korean governments on demarcating the Soviet-Korean state border.

"The additional protocol cements the results of the 2000-2003 efforts of the mixed commission to complete the demarcation and the first joint checks of the Russian-Korean state border," runs the Russian foreign ministry's statement.
