STAVROPOL, January 31 (RIA Novosti corr. Valery Oliyanchuk) - The region of Kavkazskiye Mineralniye Vody, a specially preserved environmental and resort area in European Russia's south, needs a Council for economic and public security of its own.
The Stavropol territory administration said the establishment of such a Council is conditioned by the necessity of constant attention paid to the problems of fulfilling the antiterrorist program "Stavropol." Overall, for the last two years the territory adjacent to the unquiet autonomies of the North Caucasus and first of all to the Chechen republic was faced with 12 terrorist attacks, eight of them in Mineralniye Vody. The Regional Security Council will head and coordinate the efforts of all law enforcement bodies, departments and power structures of the territory to counter terrorism.
