RUSSIAN GENERAL GRANTED LEGION OF HONOUR

MOSCOW, January 27, 2004. (RIA Novosti correspondent Sergei Zelentsov) - General of the Army Anatoly Kvashnin, Chief of the General Staff of Russia's Armed Forces, has been granted the Legion of Honour of France. The high award was handed over by Chief of the General Staff of France General of the Army Henry Bentegeat.

"Established more than 200 year ago by Napoleon Bonapart, this decoration has been awarded both to civilians and the military for prominent services rendered to France," the French general pointed out.

According to him, Kvashnin has been granted this award for his remarkable contribution to the development of the two countries' relations.
