MOSCOW, JANUARY 26. /RIA NOVOSTI / -- The United Nations Security Council should return to considering the mandates of international arms experts in Iraq, Alexander Yakovenko, official spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, said answering questions from journalists.

Such was his commentary to utterances by David Kay, former head of the group of American experts in Iraq, on the futility of the search for weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.

To Key, who resigned recently, the possibility of discovering reserves of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq is negligible.

"This conclusion has not come unexpected for us. As is known, UNMOVIC and IAEA international experts have not found weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, either", said the official spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry.

"At the same time, in order to finally close the question, the UN Security Council should, as provided for in its Resolution 1483, return to considering the UNMOVIC and IAEA mandates and on the basis of their reports take a decision", added Alexander Yakovenko.
