INAUGURATION OF GEORGIAN PRESIDENT MIKHAIL SAAKASHVILI FOLLOWED BY MILITARY PARADE

TBILISI, January 25 (RIA Novosti) - Over 1,700 servicemen participated in the military parade in Tbilisi in honor of Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili's inauguration. All combat arms were represented at the parade.

According to the Novosti-Georgia agency, the parade was held in Rustaveli Avenue in front of the Georgian parliament's building. Servicemen of the commandos battalion, eleventh brigade of the Georgian defense ministry, the National Academy of Defense, interior troops and borderguards took part in it.

At the end of the parade, four Su-25 aircraft, two Mi-8 helicopters and four UH-1 helicopters flew over downtown Tbilisi. Rose petals were thrown over thousands of spectators from the helicopters.

Upon parade completion, the ceremony of the Georgian president's inauguration was over.

Today morning Georgian President Elect Mikhail Saakashvili accepted the military parade in Batumi, and then - a Navy parade in Poti.
