MOSCOW, JANUARY 21, RIA NOVOSTI - Russia remains prominent on the Israeli-Palestinian settlement cause, Nabil Shaath, Palestine's Minister of Foreign Affairs, said after Moscow negotiations with Igor Ivanov, his Russian counterpart.
The talks left Mr. Shaath convinced of Russia's honourable contribution to Mideastern settlement. The Road Map was blueprinted and partly implemented thanks to Russia, he stressed.
The Palestinian minister denied opinions of Russia playing no great part in the Middle East ever after the Soviet Union collapsed. As permanent member of the United Nations Security Council and leader of the four international mediators, Russia stays principal figure in Middle East conflict settlement, he argued.
