RUSSIAN FOREIGN MINISTER: RUSSIA, BRAZIL HAVE GOOD PROSPECTS FOR COOPERATION IN TRADE, TECHNOLOGIES, AGRICULTURE

MOSCOW, January 20, 2004. /RIA Novosti correspondent Anna Bobina/. Russia and Brazil have good possibilities for cooperation in trade, high-tech and agricultural spheres, Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov said at the meeting with Brazilian Minister of Development, Industry and Trade Luiz Furlan and Minister of Agriculture Roberto Rodrigues.

"Our economies are complementary and we should use all the existing possibilities," Ivanov stressed.

The Russian minister expressed hope that Rodrigues and Furlan's talks in Moscow have shown mutual interest in cooperation and readiness to develop cooperation.

The agreement on the Brazilian ministers' visit to Moscow was achieved in January 2003, Igor Ivanov said. "You are here in January already. If we fulfill our agreements so rapidly, our success is guaranteed," Ivanov noted.

On his part, Luiz Furlan said that the meetings in Moscow were very productive. "We have opened new spheres for prospective cooperation," he stressed.

According to Furlan, Russia and Brazil can develop cooperation in the aerospace spheres and exchange experience in reforming.

"We also discussed specific spheres of cooperation - bank technologies, heavy engineering, complementary agriculture, etc." Furlan said.

In his words, Russia and Brazil can also exchange experience in tax sphere.
