MOSCOW, JANUARY 19, 2004. /RIA NOVOSTI/ -- An east-west Belarussian Rail stretch from the Russian frontier to the Polish, in Brest, will receive a latter-day electronic communication system within the year as a fibre optic line is laid, reports the Belarussian Embassy to Russia. A similar line now in action goes from the Russian frontier to Orsha, major railway junction in Belarus. It will reach Minsk, Belarussian capital, and go on to Brest before the year's end.

Quick and reliable information exchanges on freights carried through Russia and Belarus are among principal conditions of effective bilateral economic partnership.

Meanwhile, Brest customs officers see numerous inaccuracies every day in documents accompanying freights bound for Russia and other CIS countries. Such problem freights stay long on the frontier before necessary specifications reach the checkpoint. The job will be much quicker as soon as the high-tech line is commissioned.
