GROZNY, January 18 (RIA Novosti) - The Chechen Interior Ministry told RIA Novosti on Sunday that during an armed clash with militants, the commander of an OMON (special purpose police forces) company was wounded, and two bandits killed in Grozny.
Yesterday policemen conducted a target check in the city's Staropromyslovsky district, during which three active members of illegal armed formations were discovered. The bandits tried to escape and opened fire. The shooting resulted in two of them, certain Artsukayev and Ibragimov, killed on site, another militant detained.
The wounded police officer was hospitalized.
The detained is being interrogated to find out whether he was involved with crimes committed on the republic's territory.
