"We attach great importance to the consolidation of mutual understanding on Chechen issues with the Islamic world, Saudi Arabia being one of its prominent members," Putin points out in his letter. "I hope the Chechen leader's discussions in your country will promote further mutual understanding as to the goals and objectives behind our work to solve the political and socio-economic problems in that region of the Russian Federation. We expect the Moslem community to get closely involved in the reconstruction processes in Chechnya, including under UNESCO auspices.
"I am satisfied to see progress in Russo-Saudi relations, whose consolidation is sure to be furthered by the implementation of the important agreements reached during your visit to Moscow last September.
"In this connection, I would like to reaffirm our commitment to expanding comprehensive cooperation with Saudi Arabia and deepening trustful dialogue, including between the two of us. That is why we see it as a significant fact that the elected Chechen leader's first foreign visit has been precisely to your country." Kadyrov handed Putin's message over to the Saudi leadership as he met them for talks in Riyadh.
