MOSCOW, JANUARY 14, 2004. (RIA NOVOSTI). Leader of the Homeland election bloc (People's-Patriotic Union) Sergei Glazyev says the bloc may be transformed into a single political party before the end of 2004. Glazyev declared this at a RIA Novosti press conference.

"We have taken a decision to create a public movement in the regions, then to discuss the principles of forming a single political structure," he said.

According to Glazyev, all the parties incorporated in the Homeland bloc are going to discuss this question during 2-3 months.

He also said that first an organising committee of the Homeland People's-Patriotic Union will be created and then "we will be ready to form a single party." "I believe this will take place before the end of the current year," Glazyev specified.

The Homeland election bloc was created on September 14, 2003 when the communists refused to form a single bloc of the people's-patriotic forces. More than 30 parties and organisations of patriotic orientation were included in the coalition. The bloc received 9% of the votes during the State Duma election.
