MOSCOW PROTESTS AGAINST ANTI-RUSSIAN STATEMENTS BY LEADER OF GEORGIAN PEOPLE'S FRONT

MOSCOW, January 13 (RIA Novosti) - Georgian ambassador to Moscow Zurab Abashidze was invited to the Russian Foreign Ministry on Tuesday. "The Russian side expressed a resolute protest against anti-Russian insinuations of Nodar Natadze, the leader of the Georgian People's Front, who called to sabotage Russian military bases in Georgia at a press conference in Tbilisi on January 12, 2004," said the press and information department of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

Such instigating appeals are absolutely inadmissible and can damage bilateral relations, especially, of neighboring countries. The Georgian authorities should understand that any provocations against Russian bases and citizens in Georgia could have far-reaching effect.
