PARIS, JANUARY 13 (RIA NOVOSTI CORRESPONDENT ANDREI NIZAMUTDINOV) - Based in Paris, the non-governmental organization Reporters Without Borders has initiated holding a broadcast campaign for setting free Agence France-Presse correspondent Ali Astamirov, kidnapped in Ingushetia.
The Reporters Without Borders' headquarters said on Tuesday that it proposes to Russian and foreign radio stations to use the 58-second appeal record of the brother of the 34-year-old reporter, who has two children. The appeal, particularly, says that the kidnappers have not yet declared their ransom demands.
Astamirov, who as an AFP correspondent wrote on developments in Chechnya, was abducted by armed men in Ingushetia's capital Nazran on July 4, 2003.
According to available information, before he was kidnapped the journalist had received telephone threats and even had to move to another location.
