MOSCOW, January 10th, 2004 (RIA Novosti correspondent) - As of 3.10 pm, a methane explosion at the Sibirskaya mine in the Kemerovo region injured 13 people, the Russian emergencies ministry reported Saturday.
"13 people are in hospital with burns of various degrees," said an emergencies ministry spokesman. For the moment, three miners are reported killed.
According to the latest reports, the fate of two miners is still unclear. Earlier, the ministry spoke about one missing miner.
The source added that 52 miners out of the 57 miners who were at the epicentre of the explosion have been lifted.
