MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Earlier in the day, a van hit pedestrians in Barcelona’s central Ramblas area. Catalonia’s authorities said that 13 people were killed and over 50 were injured in the incident.
"The terrorist act in Barcelona, in the most crowded place in the city, is a monstrous crime. I am sure that we will be able to defeat international terrorism only through the joint efforts of the entire world community," Medvedev wrote in his Facebook blog.
"I express my deepest condolences to the families and friends of those who died in the terrorist attack in Barcelona, and the speedy recovery to the injured," he added.
