Netanyahu, Abbas Likely to Meet in Moscow Late September
RAMALLAH (Palestine) (Sputnik) — Possible talks between Palestinian and Israeli leaders in Moscow may break political deadlock in the Middle East peace process, given the Israeli government fulfills its commitments, the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Executive Committee member Ahmed Majdalani told Sputnik.

"We do not want negotiations for the sake of negotiations, we want Russian mediation which will bring about a serious breakthrough and will help to break the political deadlock," Majdalani said.

"We have no preconditions which [Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin] Netanyahu speaks about in an effort to distort [the information]. Meanwhile the Israeli government has commitments it must fulfill under UN Resolution 1515," Majdalani said.

Earlier in the day, a diplomatic source told Sputnik that Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov was expected to visit Israel on September 5 to discuss with Netanyahu the possibility of holding direct Israeli-Palestinian talks in Moscow.
