Many social network users expressed their joy following the decision of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) not to ban the entire Russian team from the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.

The IOC ruled on Sunday not to ban the entire Russian Olympic team from participating in the August 5-21 games in Brazil, helping Russian athletes escape a blanket ban.

Famous American long-distance runner Kara Goucher said that the accusations toward Russia have more to do with politics, rather than sports.

At the same time, Russian track and field athletes won't be able to take part in the Games in accordance with the previous decision made by the IAAF.

"Well, that's it… the end of our struggle for Rio… I am not going to rank first again…" world record pole vaulter Yelena Isinbayeva tweeted.

Russian track and field athlete Sergey Shubenkov posted: "The same song after each OG. This time, substantial progress — they started talking about problems before the competition".
