According to the Kremlin spokesman, Vladimir Putin does not plan to attend the Olympic Games opening ceremony in Rio next month.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Russian President Vladimir Putin does not plan to attend the Olympic Games opening ceremony in Rio next month, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Monday.

"As I understand it, there are no plans of such a trip. He has another working schedule," Peskov told reporters, adding that it is too early to speak about Putin’s plans to attend any of the August 5-21 games.
