BANGKOK (Sputnik) – Thai authorities failed to inform Russia of its citizen’s arrest at the request of the United States on suspicion of credit card fraud, a source familiar with the situation told RIA Novosti on Thursday.
“Thai authorities have not informed the Russian side about the arrest of the Russian citizen,” the source said.
Dmitry Ukrainsky, 44, is wanted by the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) on suspicion of credit card fraud, Thai police Major General Surachet Hakphan said in an announcement of his arrest earlier in the day.
Ukrainsky himself denies any wrongdoing, Russian Counsellor and Head of Consular Section Vladimir Sosnov told RIA Novosti earlier, adding that Moscow had forwarded a request for complete documentation in the case to Bangkok.
The Russian citizen is not listed by the Interpol.
