Gen. Khalifa Haftar, the commander of Libya's armed forces loyal to the country's Tobruk-based government, discussed with Russia's Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev and Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu a number of issues, including Moscow's efforts in strengthening and consolidation of Libya, as well as Russian weapon deliveries.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Gen. Khalifa Haftar, the commander of Libya's armed forces loyal to the country's Tobruk-based government, has discussed a number of issues including weapons deliveries with Russia's Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev and Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, the Russian ambassador to Libya told Sputnik Tuesday.

On Monday, Haftar arrived in Moscow on a visit, according to Sputnik's sources.

"Yes, he is in Moscow now. Yesterday he had a meeting with Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev, with the Russian defense minister. Today, he will have a meeting in the [Russian] Foreign Ministry," Molotkov said.

He added that the sides discussed a number of issues, including Moscow's efforts in strengthening and consolidation of Libya, as well as Russia's weapon deliveries to the African nation.
