MOSCOW (Sputnik) –The deputy foreign minister stressed that launches are prohibited by the UN Security Council, referring to North Korea's alleged failed attempt to launch a missile on Thurday morning.
"The situation on the Korean Peninsula <…> this topic is permanently in our spotlight, we still confirm that it requires the most serious, attentive discussions between all interested parties," Morgulov said.
He also noted that all launches of missiles by North Korea are prohibited by UN Security Council resolutions.
"All launches with the use of ballistic technologies are prohibited by the well-known resolutions of the UN Security Council that is why if reports [about the launch] are true, it is clear that this will be regarded as yet another violation of the resolution," the deputy minister said.
Earlier on Monday, South Korea reported that the North tried to launch an unidentified missile but the attempt failed.
