MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The government voted in favor of a lawsuit against the United States for its "subversive" activities, due to which Iran has sustained pecuniary and non-pecuniary damage, the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRB) reported.
The Iranian parliament also listed the US involvement in the 1953 Iranian coup d'etat, when then-Prime Minister Mohammad Mosaddegh was overthrown in favor of strengthening the rule of Pahlavi. The coup was managed by UK and US intelligence, under the names Operation Boot and the TPAJAX Project respectively.
The lawmakers also demanded that compensation be sought for the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war, during which Washington supported Iraq with monetary assistance, weaponry, intelligence and technology, among other means.
