BEIJING (Sputnik) — Syria has been mired in civil war since 2011, with government forces loyal to Syrian President Bashar Assad fighting numerous opposition factions and extremist groups until a cessation of hostilities brokered by Russia and the US came into force on February 27, 2015. The ceasefire, however, does not include terrorist organizations.
The international community, including Russia, the United States and key European and Middle Eastern states, is undertaking steps to end the Syrian conflict and put an end to the violence.
The CICA is an international forum aimed at promoting peace, stability and cooperation in Asia, according to the organization's website. The organization has 26 member states, including China, Russia, Kazakhstan and Iran among others.
