MOSCOW (Sputnik) The Russian space agency Roscosmos said Wednesday that it was prepared to propose launch options for Morocco's remote earth sensing satellite if the African country resumed its satellite program.

"Moroccans are in principle showing interest in high-tech cooperation. On December 10, 2001, the first Moroccan satellite was launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome. Roscosmos has expressed its readiness to offer the Moroccan side launch options if it chooses to resume its work on creating a national remote earth sensing satellite," Roscosmos said in a statement.

Morocco's space program is coordinated by the Royal Center for Remote Sensing. The country's Maroc-Tubsat satellite was manufactured by the Technical University of Berlin and launched atop a Ukrainian Zenit-2 rocket from Baikonur in 2001. Morocco has not launched any more satellites since.
