WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The United States did not receive any advance notice from Russia about the decision to pull out its air groups from Syria, but so far Moscow has followed through with the pullout, White House spokesperson Josh Earnest said during a press briefing on Tuesday.
"Russia did not give direct advance notice of this decision to the United States," Earnest said when asked whether President Barack Obama was surprised about Russia’s decision to phase out its forces in Syria.
Earnest noted “the earliest indications are that the Russians are following through,” but it was still “too early to determine at this point what impact it will have on the broader situation.”
