WikiLeaks published Tuesday a batch of classified documents detailing the US National Security Agency’s (NSA) surveillance of world leaders during their negotiations.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to WikiLeaks, NSA had bugged meetings between UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, as well as talks of key EU and Japanese trade ministers on "trade red-lines."

"Today we showed that UN Secretary General Ban KiMoon's private meetings over how to save the planet from climate change were bugged by a country intent on protecting its largest oil companies… WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange said in a statement as quoted by the organization.

According to Assange, Washington signed a deal with the United Nations vowing to not engage in such activities against the organization.

"It will be interesting to see the UN's reaction, because if the Secretary General can be targeted without consequence then everyone from world leader to street sweeper is at risk," Assange said.

WikiLeaks is an international non-profit journalistic organization founded in Iceland in 2006 to disseminate documents, photos and video of political or social significance, according to the organization’s Facebook page. The website gained prominence when it publicized a trove of classified diplomatic cables between heads of state and government.

Very difficult to believe much that comes from the Americans. Have to either view their press conferences for entertainment purposes eg comedy club, or dedicate some time to a small pedicure.

A black eye for the Americans on the world stage...maybe. Which country or global organization has the teeth to make the Americans stand back from this event?

I have given up reading Western new media. They are either lying out right or only reporting what is in the Western interest and even then with a big bias.

Baybars, Strange you should ask! But for the last few years - my feet and toes have been splendid. They attract favorable comments and often I have fend off requests for them to be used in marketing purposes for various foot products.

Regime-change: the west will have to answer one day. Who do they think they are?
They are monstrous regimes, besides their foreign policies, they own internal society is finished....their own liberal, anti-natural laws, rejection of their Christian Roots...the chastisement will be heavy.

Baybars, It's going to take a..."coalition" ...to put a stop to the U.S. This NSA spying rubbish has compromised the entire world. GO WIKILEAKS! Now it would be nice if Snowden could chime in with some of those secret CIA documents to support this fact. Everyone who knows something should be speaking up right about now, and world leaders need to respond.

sixpack6t9, World leaders...I fear they are the culprits. Bribed, blackmailed or just weak people in office around the world are trying hard to keep any sort of "coalition" of the people from forming.

It is people like You and all the rest of the SPUTNIK and alternative news readership that will make the difference. Go Wikileaks, Go Freedom of Information!

    Russia should wise up.
EEU, CIS, SCO, BRICS and many others are tired of this snooping that is used, to derail negotiations and gain inside trading , and much more.
Developing a counter is great. And spy on them after. BRICS really wants to end the snooping.. So to develop a dev center in Russia. for that . Where all the countries participate. OR separate them at different centers.

Until Russia don't take cards in the matter , it won't happen. And things will have to be innovated on no end.
